As often is the case, the greatest films are often overlooked at the time of their debut on the screen. Such is the case with this gem. Cary Grant is perhaps the most popular male actor from classic Hollywood yet was only twice nominated for an Oscar and neither were in his better roles. Cary Grant gives an amazing performance in another of his screwball comedic roles and was a role that propped him up for such roles as "Arsenic and Old Lace", "The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer", and his perfectly-delivered humor in "Philadelphia Story". However, the show was stolen by one of Katheryn Hepburn's greatest acting performances. It's a shame that it was during this point in her career that she was labeled box office poison because it allowed one of her greatest works to go relatively unseen for decades. This is a comedic masterpiece! |
