Real Comedy

Screwball to the maxx! This is one of those 1930s comedies that leaves no joke undone. The whole premise is ridiculous, but that's the point. You can't have screwball with a solidly believable premise. Cary Grant plays a paleontologist waiting for the final bone(fossil) to finish "his dinosaur." Grant's character is hoping to get a donation for the museum in which he works from a man he doesn't know.
Kathryn Hepburn is a totally spoiled socialite who needs her aunt's money to continue her lifestyle. She and Grant meet several times by accident and sparks fly. Add a leopard that's escaped from the circus, a tame leopard which loves to have the song,"I Can't Give You Anything But Love" crooned to it, and a lightfingered Fox Terrier to the mix and you've got the makings of a great farce! Sit back and enjoy. |
