i have not seen this movie since i was a little girl. i loved it so much. i forgot all about it. which is a crying shame. it has got to be one of the best frankenstein adaptations ever. sting plays frankenstein and he does quite a good job with it. jessica beals plays the bride of frankenstein. if you guys don't remember her she was the woman from flashdance. the frankenstein monster is played by the guy who was the kurgan in the highlander. he was so sweet in this one. it took me a moment to recognize who he was. he is usually playing bad guys. this movie takes on a new meaning here. dr. frankenstein is the villian. he creates him of coarse, but then he creates frankenstein a woman and unlike the monster she is perfect. beautiful, independent, smart, and a good person. in the beginning of the movie there is a fire that destroys most of the tower and the monster is thought to have perished in it. but now he hasn't. he escapes and wonders around the hungarian countryside with his new little friend who helps him along the way. the frankenstein monster gets a name and it's victor. he loves horses. he always wants to rides horses. him and his little friend find work at a circus who is owned by very bad guys. then there is the bride. she goes by the name of eve. she is growing up in wealth and privilege. she is like a child and frankenstein teaches her many things and he lies to her also. she also loves horses. eve and victor have a connection with one another. when one feels a strong emotion, mostly pain and heartache, they feel what the other is feeling. victor knows who eve is and he loves her. eve doesn't know who he is. she thinks her parents were killed and that she is a distant relation to dr. frankenstein. through the movie eve starts losing her wide eyed innocence and starts realizing there is something not normal with her. so her relationship with the doctor starts deteriorating and his mad side starts rearing it's ugly head. it is a great movie for family night. there is a lot of angst and drama, but it is balanced out with some light bit of comedy. you will fall in love with victor. if there is any nudity i can not remember. the cursing is slim. it is a long movie so be prepared. worth owning and worth renting. do not pass up the chance to watch it. |
