I was slightly let down by this film as I'd seen all the glamorous pictures and supposed it to be more showy than it is. Howver it is a charming romantic comedy that evokes an elegant era of cigarette holders and cocktail parties. Audrey Hepburn is perfect as the flipant playgirl who is after only one thing:therichest man in the world. Her stunning attractivity and refined voice conveyed her attitude to life perfectly and the process of her change to realise the real values of life and where true happiness lies is highly enjoyable. However, like all slightly older films it looks old : it's filmed in that horrible technicolor which makes everything look like it's seen through a mustardy, smoke screen. The ending is a true romantic classic though and the way in which the information about Holly's past falls into place is intrigueing although at times it moves at far too slow a pace. |
