"Born Yesterday" is about a dumb blonde who becomes smart because of an interviewer, and over-comes her nagging, and demanding boss. Judy Holiday doesn't fit out for me as a blonde. William Holden is alright as an interviewer who then becomes her teacher and makes her smart. Broderick Crawford really pushes it as Harry, and it almost seems likes needs some anger management classes. He was so mean to Bille, if it were remade by today's standards, I bet she would have called a self-abnoxious little prick. But "Born Yesterday" isn't really funny, and its cast is all right, so it's actually more drama than comedy. |
