"There after you Derek", and they sure was, this movie was directed by Lord of the rings creator, Peter Jackson who also made Dead Alive or Brain Dead, the sickest movies ever known to man. The movie storyline is about a group of undercover defense team called "The Boys" that is on there way to stop a few aliens from kidnapping earthly beings and taking them to there planet to eat them... Simple! This movie is known for pure gore and alot of action and fun, the movie itself is actually to be taken seriously but the amount of really cheesy fake blood and sick guts effects make you laugh with excitement.

The acting in the movie is very poor indeed, they sound like there just reading off a script paper as they play on screen, very poorly acted indeed. The 3 main guys just looked completely perfectic but all this putting down on the movie will be short lived as the corny and bad acting paid off in my book. It just made the movie even more enjoyable to watch and because the movie was a low budget and stupid movie its works great, let it be known personally I have no complaints, I was just pointing out the bad acting, not to everyone taste though.

The whole movie had a great amount of gore included in it and when I first saw the movie, I was very surprised at the amount Peter Jackson had put in. The special effects team on this shoot was obviously not as talented as Tom Slavini and most likely didn't have a budget to match because on screen you can defiantly tell, its all really fake and really weird looking. Personally I think they went for more on the amount of blood, guts and brains than the quality which makes the movie pretty cool to watch if your a gore lover like myself. The whole movie also includes alot of great death scenes including, a man that cuts through a alien vertically with a chainsaw then slides through the dead aliens body, that was a great scene but cut out in the cut version. Alot more scenes, but too many to list, there also is a great deal of shooting and guns in this movie which nicely balances out the gore and action but the shooting sounds sound terrible. For me the effects have to sound the part just as much as the look because it will just be messed up and look not real at all and in this case it sadly looks bad.

Bad taste has a really weird Cornwall feel to it, which i quite like alot, it brings the action and pure horror closer to home for me, I can only wish. The movie has a great feel to it helped along by really great sound effects and music, very 80s but very good. Alot of guitar and alot of keyboard play which helps the UFO theme go great, as i mentioned shame about some really week sound effects though and plastic looking guns.

Overall the movie is great and I have this masterpiece in my collection at home, not the best but not the worst, to me it is the best gore good time movie I own and strongly suggest you check it out as its a classic Peter Jackson movie. Check out Dead Alive if you thought this movie was gory!
