Arsenic and Old Lace is quite possibly my all-time favorite Cary Grant picture. His screwball comedy exploits that he has come to be remembered for almost as much as his sex appeal as never at its finest than in this film. It doesn't matter that Priscilla Lane is still in her early acting career at this point and gives a less than memorable performance because the focus throughout the entirety of the film is the chaos that Cary Grant's character has inadvertantly stumbled into. The aunts are as sweet as possible and makes their atrocities seem all the more sincere and forgiving if not, dare I say, funny. This is a must see for classic movie bufs and Cary Grant fans. |
