A comedy gem

Kurt Russell steals the show without leaving the supporting cast in the dust. As the quint- essential sleezeball, Russell puts an end to his cutsie image as Disney's golden boy. Somewhat similar to his role in Big Trouble in little China, Russell is adept at creating a character that is both nauseating and likable at the same time.
In a role that most actors salivate over, Jack Warden is wonderful as both the friendly used car dealership owner and his antithetical brother across the street. Along with Warden, the entire cast works splendidly together to make Used Cars one of the best American comedies of the 1970's.
As a side note, few people might know that the cross desert race scene at the end provided George Miller with the inspiration for the movie, The Road Warrior. |
