as a glaswegian(from glasgow)scot, wich is a mere 50miles down the motorway from edinburgh and a city that suffers a worse heroin problem than its prettier counterpart(edinburgh, where the film is set),worse heroin problem in europe actually,i have enjoyed trainspotting several times and would say it gives a looseley accurate depiction of life in urban scotland in the 1980,s...lots of the scenes in the movie were actually filmed within glasgow as it has a grittier urban ambience than touristic edinburgh,i enjoyed the lines and the charachters who reminded me of types i grew up with....plus it puts scotland on the map and gives it a wee bit of street cred worlwide! |
