On one hand I really like this film, as it keeps the reality of addiction in your face. Scenes like when they woke to find the mother screaming over her dead child still makes me a little sick to my stomache. It's scenes like this that save this film form being distasteful, which at times it is. There isn't much to laugh about in addiction (speaking as someone who's been there)... but the movie tells no lies, and for that reason alone, it deserves recognition as being one of the most accurate addiction films ever made. |
