The computer-generated original was a hoot, but this sequel is surprisingly even better. Turns out Woody is a collector's item in Japan and is about to be shipped overseas when Buzz plots his rescue. Unlike other kid-directed movies--stop blushing, Pokémon--there's so much warmth and emotion here that adults will enjoy it as much as kids. It's filled with puns and satire and never lets up. Hanks, Allen and the rest of the cast reprise their vocal chores. Knight is especially terrific as the evil Al McWhiggin. Disney wisely ponied up the cash to put this sequel, originally slated for direct-to-video release, on the big screen. It's millions well spent. You might also like: Toy Story 1, Findin Nemo, Monsters, Inc. & Shrek. |
