Good Idea, Good Cast, Bad Script

No even this fine cast of actors could save this dud! It was SUPPOSED to be a comedy, but the comedy was hard to find. The movie was full of cute ideas, but the script does NOTHING to translate humorous circumstances into comedy. Christopher Walken as a former evangelist con man trying to use the church again to score a few bucks. The idea in itself has a lot of promise but the movie chooses not to take any chances, not to take it one step further poking fun at religion, and thus generates NO LAUGHS from a funny premise. Tom Arnold as a religious nut. Another funny idea, but the film resorts to making him a clumsy oaf going for more slap stick than sophisticated humor. Again, just wasting a very funny idea. Bad movie! Bad! Waste of time! |
