I remember when this movie first came out, they were heralding this movie as the "Star Wars" of animation during commercials. Trust me, this movie is not going to replace Star Wars anytime soon. The movie is all right, I can't say it's bad because I have seen worse but, it speaks "been there, done that," at every angle. There is nothing present that makes it stand out from all the rest of the several science fiction films with its theme. Aliens blowing up the world, two lovers seeking to reclaim the world as it was, it's been done before, several times. But that's not the problem. The problem is that the movie is bland. It doesn't seem to convince itself it's special. It goes through and just doesn't draw attention. Not even an all-star voice cast and the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel as writer can fix it. If you're looking for a great science fiction movie, I don't belive this will be the one. But if you don't mind sitting through two hours on the tv, you're fine. |
