The Ice Storm is by far one of the best films I've seen. I originally saw it due to my love of Elijah Wood's acting. He was excellent in this film and the cast surrounding him were perfect. It was a joy to see Katie Holmes doing something that completely goes against her Dawson's Creek character. I loved her as Joey, but this was a nice change. The dynamics within the family and between families was amazing and the visual aspect of the film was incredible. The movie is a dark, dramatic, comment on life in 1970s suburbia which really showcases people's shortcomings instead of making everyone the hero. It's refreshing to see people's imperfections for a change. It really helps the viewers to relate to the characters and really feel like they know them. If you enjoyed American Beauty, then you will love The Ice Storm. |
