The first scene of them flying over the desert, to the last scene, is when you realize that all that is left of his life, was that one promise to her. It just rips my heart in two everytime I see that plane flying over the African desert.
This story seemed so believeable. And it was so epic. I read the book right after the movie and while it ends a little different then the movie, I thought they did an exquisite job with the movie and ended it brilliantly.
Ralph got screwed out of his Oscar. Now Jeffrey was amazing also, but ask yourself this one question after seeing both films. Who brought their character to life through love, hate, passion, complexity, and sorrow. In the end, Ralph over took Jeffrey by a small margin, with his amazing portrayal as both the patient and (that damn long hungarian name??) Ralph also breathes so much realness about love and he hits the perfect spots when a touch of humility is needed or redemption. He just had the part played perfectly and i'm still pissed he didn't win it. Oh well.
A well thought out, brilliant, epic, masterpiece, that will be a timeless love story forever. And I know a bunch of you mentioned that you have to see it in the theatre for the panaromic views, I agree completely, it makes it hit deeper when they are flying over the desert.
"I have always loved you"
