Toby Maguire is perhaps one of the most underated actors in hollywood. In The Cider House Rules he plays an orphan from Maine who under the watchful eye of Dr. Larch(Micheal Cain) is trained as a doctor who primarily delivers babies. Then enters a pregnant Candy(Charlize Theron) who has an abortion performed by Dr. Larch that's when Homer Wells decides to leave the orphanage in pursuit of something different. What he finds is a broken heart, a medical procedure he didn't want to perform and learned the most important lesson of all, you can't always leave home. With a fine supporting cast which included Kieran Culkin and Delroy Lindo The Cider House Rules is destined to take its place in history. |
