Listen carefully to the soundtrack to Hitch's excellent film. That's right. There isn't any music in this film. Over the opening credits we hear birds...and more birds. Nothing scary about that, right? Okay. Now watch the film until the end. Do me a favor, okay? Play the opening credits once more. I rest my case. Alfred Hitchcock, was a genius! Personally, I think this film is better than PSYCHO, but that's merely a personal preference. Tippi Hedron is terrific as the lead, who may or may not have caused all of this in the first place. And to this day, seagulls have gotten a bad rap because of this film. I've been to the beach many many times over the years, and it is inevitable that someone will freak out when seagulls are flying around, or landing on the sand looking for scraps.
When is the last time you saw a seagull attack somebody? Anyway, Hitchcock revels in this sort of stuff, but the best plot device of all was never explaining exactly WHY all of those birds were attacking. This film is a masterpiece!
