Hitchcock is good at making us look differently about everyday things.
Psycho made us fear taking showers in someplace other then our homes.
Rear Window made us fear our neighbors.
Vertigo made heights more terrifying.
And now we're afraid of birds.
I for one still think birds are cute. But crows and blackbirds out still more freaky considering this movie.
Don't read ahead if you don't want to know the two best parts of the movie.
The two strongest parts in this movie, in my opinion, are when Tippi Hedren is sitting on the bench outside the school with the children singing in the backround. She sees a bird flying. The camera follows the bird until it lands on a jungle gym full of birds.
The other part is when the older woman Lidia finds that farmer dead in his house. That was a powerful moment.
I still think it's interesting that almost all of Hitchcock's movies got re-rated for our times. Because my mom went to see Psycho when she was a little girl. It's R now.
If you are a fan of Hitchcock's other movies, you'll probably like this one. |
