In this second great installment, the story continues with the three villians tha Jor-El sent in the Phantom Zone, they escape after Superman got rid of the bomb inside the elevator. All the sonic boom broke the zone and they escape, and they get powers like Superman, from the yellow sun, but just before he found out about General Zod, Ursa, and Non, Superman chooses to show a more romantic side of himslf to Lois Lane and find out that he is also Clark. But to live with Lois, he has to give up his awesome powers, and he does and he uses a chamber that harnest the red sun's energy, kind of similar to Spider-Man 2, the way how Peter Parker lost his powers, but only that Superman does it for Lois Lane, and Spider-Man does it for himself. Anyway he has to go back and get his powers back, and he again uses the green crystal. Then there are some epic battles between the three villians, and Lex Luthor helps them find Superman. Then you know Superman eventually wins by tricking Zod, the red sun's energy was on the outside and while Superman was safe in the chamber. So they become weak and Superman beats the heck out of them. I think the visuals were far beyond better than the first Superman. It introduced the heat vision, them walking on water, ice breath, and pointing things to make them float. The story was also more epic and also the visuals weren't as cheesey as the first, don't get me wrong the first Superman was awesome, but you have to admit that the whole water scene and when he tried to block it with huge rock, you could tell it was fake. Richard Lester really didn't direct all of this, it was Richard Donner who was not credited, but he was the co-director, yet it was well made and one of the few sequels that are better than the first. I really recommend SUPERMAN II. |
