The best Super-Hero movie of all time?

I grew up reading comic books, and even though I was a Batman fan at first, the Superman movies came in a time when no one else was doing super heroes themed movies, so I always remember the first two movies of Superman as the first and the best (come to think of it, it was a few years after Superman made his debut in the pages of Action Comics that DC created Batman, and it happened in the movie media as a deja vu; Superman made four movies before the caped crusader (I mean Batman) made the leap to the silver screen). Well, about the movie; since it was a follow up to the events of the first one the story is more action packed and the villains are astounding; then again we have the choice that Superman has to make in order to have the woman he loves;(come to think of it, is this subplot used at least unconsciously by the writers of Spider-Man 2?,I wonder).The only low point was Lex Luthor, this time more as a comedy relief that a foe worthy of the Man of Steel;(yeah, I know he guided the kryptonians baddies to the Fortress of Solitude and all; but then again in the comics of that time Luthor was portrayed as a mad scientist with a purple and green uniform) and Gene Hackman who plays bald at the end of the first movie and in the beggining of this one.After all this time and aside those wonderful (should I say Marvelous?)f/x that we are watching these days this is one that stands the test of time because it shows (albeit briefly) the heart of the hero and this time is more a man than super... |
