There's a very long history of basketball players coming to the screen with an inability to act (you might have heard of Shaq in Kazaam and Darius Miles in The Perfect Score). But Michael Jordan was an exception. He was really good! I've had a grudge against Bill Murray since "Osmosis Jones", but now I know that he's actually pretty talented. Along with Danny DeVito, Wayne Knight, and the Looney Tunes, it's hard to be denied.
It takes place right after Michael Jordan retires from basketball. Aliens from Mars have come to bring the Looney tunes to their theme park in outer space. To defend themselves, Bugs Bunney and the rest challenge them to a basketball game. The aliens then steal the talent of several NBA All-Stars and become the Monstars. To beat them, the Tunes will need the greatest backetball player ever. So, Michael is the one. But will he be able to defeat the Monstars? Find out in this adventure of animation, originality, and lots of laughs. Space Jam is creative, wild, and free of dullness. It remains colorful through every scene. The basketball game at the end is great for its fun, humor, and excitement. And those are three good descriptions for all of it. I have no clue what jkonczal and Sports Illustrated, who put this as the worst sports movie ever in August, are talking about, but in my book this is in as an entertaining family sports comedy. |
