Perfect for a depressed office worker!

Peter Gibbons is computer programmer who at the ripe old age of 28 is having a mid-life crisis. Unable to endure another moment of the mind-numbing routine and petty annoyances that assault him day after day, Peter and some equally frustrated colleagues hatch a plot which could lead to a very lucrative and early retirement.
Funny, funny satire; a comic cry of rage against the nightmare of modern office life. Despite some preaching, there is nothing complex going on here, just a series of set-ups for gags. There are plenty of laughs, but the real humor is found in the secondary roles. For the most part, the film is brilliant, it does a fair job at making sick jokes about corporate America. Judge presents a corporate culture that is the enemy of kindness, individuality and any other human value.
The film basically says, (from Peter Gibbon's point of view) people of america are not supossed to sit in a cubical all day and wait for people to come by and tell you what you've been doing wrong, and never give you a break once in a while. This is America and we're supossed to have freedom, not petty bosses that will never stop nagging you!
This movie has my vote by far! I've watched the movie so many times, i've memorized the lines! I'll never get tired of watching the depressed Peter Gibbons release his emotions and forget all his problems to turn into a relaxed, and non-caring individual with a free spirit. |
