I was hooked for a while on watching Office Space in order to get all the references my coworkers were making to this movie during our day to day, eerily similar routines, as depicted in this movie. As Ebert says, it's a great cry-out from behind our cubicals... a lifestyle that is accepted as reality for millions of people daily, like sheep sent to the slaughter. While it pokes fun where needed, it does its fair share of milling on 'why' we live like this despite knowing it's contrary to our design (as humans). It's really a cozy film with a point. The point is well made, but won't change your life. It does make you laugh a bit at office life ("Sounds like you have a case of the Mondays"), and you'll never listen to a manager babble the same again! :p |
