I loved this movie to death. I think I've seen it fifteen times. I loved the book too, and though I admit there are a few significant differences between the book and the movie, it's still very wonderful. I recommend it to ANYONE.
It's just an amazing story about a neglected girl who finds sanctuary in the books she reads by checking out books in her local library when her clueless, average older brother goes to school, her father cheats people on stolen cars with stolen car parts, and her mother heads to bingo. Her parents think of her as a mistake. When she is finally allowed to go to a school, she finds a mean, dictator as the principal. But her teacher, Ms. Honey, though she hides a difficult past, is an extremely gentle, wonderful woman who early on discovers Matilda's gift of intelligence, and immediately becomes Matilda's friend. When Matilda is told of Ms. Honey's dark past with the dictator principal Ms. Trunchbull, Matilda is determined to help her teacher get back at Ms. Trunchbull for the murder of Ms. Honey's father and her years of abuse on Ms. Honey.
RENT THIS RIGHT NOW! It's a beautiful story. It's not a very sad movie, it's just a heartwarming family movie I am certain you will fall in love with. |
