A whimsy of a story set in England's urban and rural country side.A girl from meager city stock in the 1800's takes leave of her family to persue a servant's life in the country among gentillity.
In the gorgeous green green country she meets a variety of relatives and personages and is besotted by one gentleman in particular.
Its a well directed movie with marvelous costumes & cinematography.Its similar to a stage play in that in every scene the characters are enacting rooles as if on stage.
