First lets stop the myth, the film is incredible and it is actually based on a nightclub/spoken word spot in Chiago called Spices (which I actually went to) and which was probably closed when the movie came out. It is not based on Rituals or any other spot. Now the film is just one of the most perfect feel good, date films I have ever seen and deserves to be viewed over and over again. The scenes of my home skyland and of real clubs like Rituals, and the Bismark ballroom are truly outstanding. Mr. Tate and Ms. Long truly turned in remarkable performances and made this just a true urban romance story. The only thing I would have added would have been the world famous Hoagy-shop on 111th street in the Wild Hundreds and K&J but seriously if someone is looking for a film to enjoy this it it. |
