Hands down, "Jackie Brown" is much better than "Pulp Fiction". If you think that dancing and pretentious edge is acting, that's fodder for "Inside Actor's Studio".
"Jackie Brown" is well scripted with an eye through a lens I've never seen: we the audience are the ones who seem to feel like we're the ones looking through that camera eye and not Quentin Tarrantino, brilliance. The flashbacks really are our memories, not presentations. This movie captures that cerebral sensation like no other film ever has been able to accomplish.
The acting is flawless from all around, particularly Robert Forster and Pam Grier. Where have they been all our lives? They've been around all right but we never noticed, what a mix of magic in casting.
This is a wonderful movie, I love the film noir movement of the 40's and 50's and this movie captures anyone who appreciates the twists and turns of quiet desperation, a little humor, and the ambiance of the city of the fallen angels. This movie is essential and is already classic. |
