Why Toho even allowed Hollywood to make this dreck, this reviewer will never know. Although the story starts out promising enough (with a boat and an irradiated survivor, the stuff of classic Kaiju films), the rest of it degenerates into something that looks more like a Julia Roberts romantic comedy--with a monster on the loose thrown in to keep males inside the movie theater. I saw it once when it was first released, and as soon as I was able to lift my jaw from the floor, I never returned to another viewing.
If you like your Godzilla movies focused on the big guy, by all means AVOID THIS PICTURE! |
