Deepa Mehta does an exquisite job directing this controversial Indian film. Not of the typical Bollywood production, this film tackles issues such as unexpected loves and affections, family care and devotion and of course the intricate and sometimes unexplainable Indian culture and way of thinking. This film has more of a Hollywood feel and the actors (not new to the Indian audiences) give brilliant perfromances considering their and Mehta's inexperience with a Hollywood type a film.
Minimal FX along with colors that emblaze the screen offer a unique viewing experience. One must let the film play on the psyche and soak in.
I highly reccommend this well produced film. |
