What can I say? I've loved this movie from the very first time I saw it, and I've seen it a lot since then. This is definately one of Johnny Depp's best and most challenging films in regards to acting, although, the story line is quite intriguing as well.
This film is based on the writings of Gonzo journalist, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, A.K.A. Raul Duke, which is the alias he went by on this decadent "trip" to Las Vegas.
Benicio Del Toro gives a memorable performance as well as Dr. Gonzo, Duke's Samoan attorney-at-law.
I wouldn't recommend this movie to just anyone. One must have a flare for dark-comedy and an open-mind.
I have never had the pleasure of reading the book, but I understand that it is as enjoyable as the movie with a ton of graphic detail. |
