After seeing Dante's Peak instead of Volcano, and Armageddon instead of Deep Impact, I was starting to think I was doomed to pick the wrong movie to see on the big screen! In the latter case, however, I suspect that if you took the big-screen impact away from Armageddon, there wouldn't be a helluvalot left. Deep Impact, on the other hand has multiple stories to tell, excellent acting and visual effects that support, rather than overwhelm, the movie as a whole. If you liked Armageddon and love special effects movies, frankly I'd say don't bother with this one, it's too subtle and believable. However if you like to be touched by human drama and think about what you would do in the characters' place - get Deep Impact. |
