Not as bad as the Color of Money, but......

Tom Cruise at this point in his career, after Top Gun, should have known to pick a better film than this one. Days of Thunder is not a bad movie, not quite as boring as The Color of Money, for example, but it isn't a particularly good film either. The director tried to pay homage to some of Cruise's other films (notice the doctor from Rainman also plays a doctor in this film & the scenes of Cruise on the motorcyle which are reminiscent of Top Gun) but there simply was no action in this film and it isn't an interesting story. Well, duh! Nascar is boring - people driving around in cirlces for hours with a few intentional crashes thrown in for excitement. So I guess we shouldn't expect anything more from a movie about Nascar. Maybe they should have thought to throw something in for excitment in this film, too! |
