Citizen Kane is the best film I've ever seen. I know a lot of experts agree and that actually annoys some people who feel the film is overrated. It is not.

The acting is superb and the cinematography was ground breaking. The story is compelling as is the music. The film is certainly serious and has depressing moments, but it has its whimsical moments as well.

If you haven't seen Citizen Kane, see it. The words "cinematic masterpiece" tend to scare people away from films as critics tend to adore foreign films that are all symbolism and require a PHD to grasp. Citizen Kane is better than those films because it is not overly abstract.

The film tells the story of Charles Foster Kane, perhaps the richest man in the world. He dies alone and we spend the rest of the film finding out who he was through those who knew him best. What we learn is that a life is not so easy to understand.
