Independent feature based on the well publicized true story of the rape and murder of Teena Brandon in Falls City, Nebraska. Kimberly Peirce well researched directorial debut is both sadden as it is harrowing. Hilary Swank plays the title role of Teena Brandon as she will quite deservingly receive an Academy Award for Best Actress. An invaluable but always over-shadowed performance by Chloe Sevigny is nothing short but riveting, and although nominated for her supporting performance by the Academy, she will agonizingly lost to Angelina Jolie [Girl Interrupted]. |
