The critics loved this, it was "bold" and "adventurous" and the public simply stayed away in droves.
Because (a) they are never going out to a theater to see a movie about pornography where they would suffer terrible embarassment if their neighbors saw them and (b) they watch their real pornography AT HOME so (c) why bother to watch it fictionalized?
The same logic applies to Val Kilmer's effort, "Wonderland" - with the same box office outcome from vast public indifference. |
