Achieving a "6" on the Kinsey Scale

Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss is an entertaining romantic comedy starring Billy (Sean Hayes), our blatantly gay photographer, and Gabriel (Brad Rowe), the presumably-straight hunk he falls for. The movie is a cat and mouse tale – Billy meets Gabriel at a party and befriends him but the friendship becomes oddly intimate despite the fact that Gabriel has a girlfriend in another city, hurling Billy into a state of confusion. Is Gabriel gay? Does Billy have a chance with him? The film is twined with humorous comments, but in entirety presents some gay stereotypes and resolves with some sticky closure that leaves you feeling a little unfulfilled. However, it’s worth it for Sean Hayes, softer and sweeter in the role of Billy than the distinct foil of the ever-neurotic Jack presented in Will and Grace. Plus, there is only one pair of breasts exposed in the entire film; kudos therein. |
