Bone-Chilling Thriller- A MUST SEE FILM!
by Brandon (movies profile) Feb 4, 2009
Lord of the Rings fan, take your mind off of Gandolf and critics who were highly disappointed with Renfro's performance in Deuces Wild, get your mind off of how badly he sucked- there performances in this film are NOTHING to be compared to their other works.

The film Apt. Pupil, directed by Brian Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects), is based on the shocking psychological thriller by Stephen King, is about a relationship that a boy forms with his neighbor, who he discovers is a Nazi war criminal. Todd Bowden (played by Brad Renfro), is a high school boy who becomes fascinated with the history of Hitler and his soldiers. When he discovers that his neighbor, Kurt Dussender (played by Sir Ian McKellen), an fairly elderly man who seems to live an ordinary life, was involved in past war crimes, he uses him in hopes of learning more... everything the history books won't tell him and what survivors dare not recall. But Todd soon finds himself learning too much and finding himself in a situation hard to get himself out of.

The acting in this film was nothing short of Oscar Worthy. Though I’m not a big fan of Brad Renfro, I must give him props for this flick. I could totally feel the obsession and fear his character experiences in the film. Sir Ian McKellen gave what I feel was his best performance ever in this film- completely bone chilling, mysterious, tormented, and suspenseful. Every word that came out of his mouth made me shudder, especially when he said "Be careful kid, you're playing with fire."

From acting-visuals, this film did not miss a beat. Apt. Pupil is suspenseful, thrilling, mysterious and somewhat terrifying. I was honestly shocked that this film didn't not win some type of award. This is definetely BrRian Singer's best film.
