One Of Stephen King's More Serious Stories
by Mclovin (movies profile) Sep 18, 2007
Stephen King stories are excellent and scary but most of them are not psychollogical, they are just absurd but excellent and effectively scary stories (PET SEMATARY, NEEDFUL THINGS, 1408, etc.) but Stephen King has written a few serious stories and this is one of them. This is one of those movies that starts out a little slowly but it soon sucks you into the plot making you guess what will happen next.

This movie is basically a battle of wits between two different kinds of evil. Todd Bowden just wants to learn more about the holocaust and the things they don't tell him about it in History class and who better to tell him than Robert Dussander, an ex-Nazi hiding in Todd's neighborhood. What follows is truly involving and frightening. All of the cast gives excellent and dead-on performances and the script stays extremely true to the novella (except for the changed ending which is completely understandable).

Overall, this is definitely recommended for Stephen King fans or just fans of thrillers. You won't be disappointed.

R: Language, Nudity, Violence, and Gore
