One of the best sci-fi films ever

Two days after seeing Alien vs Predator, I rented Alien and got a much bigger show. I guess when you mix an Alien and a Predator together, the show gets ugly. Alien is a much better experience than AvP, a MUCH better one. And to think that this masterpiece was created in the late 70's!

Sigourney Weaver is excellent as the movie's hero, Ripley. She is part of a space explorer team that includes: Dallas, Ash, Parker, Kane, Lambert, Brett, and a cat named Jones. They're supposed to find an SOS distress call, so they land on a strange planet. While searching, Kane discovers dozens of mysterious eggs, and he wathces as one begins to hatch. Suddenly the egg hatches and a wacky substance flies into Kane's face.

The team is able to bring Kane back into the ship, but they cannot get the thing off his face. They know that he's unconcious, but they've also discovered that the thing is feeding Kane oxygen. While they're away, the thing comes off his face, and he regains conciousness.

Soon Kane is eating with his friends again. But suddenly, he starts painfully gagging. Then he cries louder. His ship mates try to help him, but he screams louder. This is the part where the audience sees the most gruesome part of the whole movie: all of a sudden, Kane's stomach explodes, he dies, blood gurgles out, and out of his stomach come a red snake-like creature, with small eyes and small but vicious jaws. It slides out of Kane's stomach and off the table, and the others don't bother to go after it... yet. It appears that the thing also formed a creature inside Kane while he was unconcious.

We watch as all of the shipmates are killed by the creature one by one. How? Well, the creature begins to evolve each time it eats someone, and in the end Ripley must kill it herself. The creature, or "Alien" is a lot more scarier than you think, especially when you get a close-up of those horrible jaws.

Alien is the first movie I've seen that was directed by Ridley Scott(get it, Ripley, Ridley), who is better well known for Gladiator, which I really want to see. I have now become an Alien fan, so I'm going to see all of the sequels, although Ridley Scott did not direct them.

Alien may start out slow, but believe me you'll love everything you see in the middle and at the end. This is one of the best sci-fi films ever. It may not be as good as E.T., but it's close. It is much more than good for its time, because it has awesome special effects. Trust me, if you can stand the first 30 minutes, you'll love Alien. Horray! I saw it before my friend did! Now to see Predator...
