WORTHLESS PIECE OF GARBAGE!

While the original film from 1963 is one of the scariest haunted house movies ever made (it was adapted for the screen under the expert direction of Robert Wise from the novel "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson) this movie plainly spells out what is wrong with attempting to remake a movie. The original did not show much, leaving nearly everything to your imagination...and it works! It is a chilling, absolutely edge of your seat frightfest. This one? Not so much. In fact, it ranks as one of the worst remakes in Hollywood history! Attention all idiots!!! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Please do yourself a favor and skip this one, and rent the 1963 original instead. And if you really want a delicious scary treat this Halloween, then go to your local bookstore and purchase THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE by the Priestess of the Macabre, the late, great Shirley Jackson. |
