This is a fine film with solid acting and a touching underlying story about the loss of innocence. This film is quite British. It was not targeted for American audiences. Some Americans miss a bit of the humour. The one concert performance by Jane Horrocks is well worth the price of admission. This is also a different type of role for Ewan McGregor, and this film demonstrates the range of characters he can play. Brenda Blethyn, Michael Caine, and Jim Broadbent are all superbe! This film is a keeper. |
