Awesome Tale of a Teen Guy Coming Out

Unlike many of these "show all opinions and choose none" this was truly artfully done. This really was an incredibly crafted film totally devoid of sex and it didn't need it. They didn't bother retreading the same old crap about upset parents and blaa blaa blaa. This movie was about two viewpoints--one of a young man deciding to come out and one of a young man choosing to stay in the closet. I could totally understand both people, and could not find fault with either character. Any str8 person seeing this film should be able to relate to the predicatments faced by gay people and the choice to come out or not.
I've got to say, however, the one teen who came out--God he had balls. What incredible courage he showed. In my own experience, I knew a Jock who was almost identical to the jock in the film. When he decided to come out, the whole world had a party. Half the swim team came on to him, and life became one huge party. He definitely won that round. The most complex part of his life became choosing who he was going to bed down. So it can be done successfully, and life can continue. Out at work, however, that's another story. |
