"Deep Blue Sea" is an entertaining movie with good special effects and much better acting and characters than you'd expect from a film that's about sharks eating people. The director makes us sympathize with all the characters, and doesn't fall back on the device of 'good people escape, bad/annoying ones get eaten'. The sharks themselves are characters in a way, and I found the true extent of their intelligence quite frightening. "Deep Blue Sea" combines 'science run amok' elements from "Jurassic Park" with creatures worthy of "Jaws" to make a very effective survival movie. |
