I absolutely loved this movie. Bernardo Bertolucci has done what many directors have forgotten. To let there be more acting, and less talk. If you have seen the movie then you'd know that there is little dialogue. This is where I beleive that David Thewlis comes in.

This really reminds me of him:
The soul that can speak with the eyes
Can also kiss with a gaze. -- Spanish proverb.
As well as,
"Actions speak louder than words"

He has gorgeous eyes and he can convey the most intense emotions without uttering a single word.
His body language in it says more than a whole dictionary full of words ever could!
Overall, casting Thewlis was a brilliant and wise choice.

The other thing is the ending, Bertolucci left the audience to choose how it ends rather choosing himself. Very few directors these days do this. Overall, it was a true masterpiece and I'd recommend it to anyone. I hope that I didn't include any spoilers and if I did in anyway, you have my greatest apologies.
