Oscar-nominated "Juno"
director Jason Reitman is turning the corporate satire "Up in
the Air" into a movie.
He is attached to adapt the novel by "Thumbsucker" author
Walter Kirn, but has yet to announce his third directing job
after "Thank You For Smoking" and "Juno."
Published in 2002, "Up in the Air" is a satire of corporate
culture, centering on a management consultant who engages in
career transition counseling, a euphemism for firing people.
The man's ultimate goal is to accumulate 1 million frequent
flier miles while trying to get a plum job at a mysterious
management company called MythTech.
The Montecito Picture Co., the production company run by
Reitman's father, Ivan Reitman, owns the rights to the book.
