Winter's Bone(2010)- User Reviews

This movie isn't for everyone, but I loved it

Your typical moviegoers who like Harry Potter and Transformers obviously aren't going to like a drama set in the backwoods of the Ozarks of Missouri.

This is a drama/mystery. And the gritty realism of the movie is something you don't see often.

How Jennifer Lawrence didn't win best female actor for her performance is beyond me. She plays Mystique in the latest reboot of X-Men, and I would have never guessed it.

The performances all around were believable to a tee. It was like watching a reality show, honestly.

Best drama I've seen in a long time. If you don't like these kind of movies, you have plenty of reviews to help you avoid it. If you like great acting and realism, give this a try.

I was thoroughly impressed.

Wow what a realistic movie. If you have ever seen the poverty in Appalachian Mountain or in this case the Ozarks, it is horrific. You wonder why these people resort to manufacturing drugs, what other means of income do they have? Our family farm is in the Appalachian area of Kentucky and it is at an epidemic level. The other thing is that very closed off and territorial aspect of that family goes way back to keeping the federal agents at bay when bootlegging was the primary source of income. Kind of scary... it was so realistic.
