I became intrigued about this movie after it being mentioned in an episode of "Unsolved Mysteries". The idea behind "White Sands" is pretty cool - a small town cop gets tangled up in a mystery that he's too far involved with to just bail out. The opening for this movie is fantastic - set in the southwest desert landscape. Unfortunately, the movie loses its coherency shortly thereafter. The plot becomes convoluted and the ending leaves a lot of questions unanswered. At one point, a female character falls in love with a male character for no apparent reason other than she's a slut. If you're looking for a movie that involves a guy getting mixed up with something big that he can't get out of, pass on this movie and rent "Terminal Velocity" with Charlie Sheen instead.
