This is a historical novel in the vein of Gone With The Wind. It is a movie with heart that does not flinch to show the brutal reality of warfare and the hard lives people lived 100 years ago. People now live soft lives compared to this time. The horse becomes a symbol of heart, soul and hope. The people who show compassion for the horse are heroes and the ones who see the horse as just there to serve their purposes and disposable are shown to be despicable human beings. It is a movie where good and evil are not blurred. Young people should see this movie as a historical novel... Those who gave it low scores must not be animal lovers. I feel sorry for them.
