Valerie Flake is a supermarket cashier in her early thirties with a graduate degree and a past as a talented painter. However, since her husband's death she has severed all emotional ties with her past and replaced them with meaningless one-night stands. That is until she meets newly divorced Tim Darnell, who makes her forget about her pain and take pleasure in living and loving again.
