A very good movie that profiles a forward-thinking man who fought the corporate giants and lost, but made his point. Preston Tucker, who got rich off a glass-encased gun turret he designed just prior to World War II, tried to build a car that broke the mold of American cars of the age; and Detroit was bound and determined to stop him. There are numerous parallels between this movie and "Aviator:" both featured men who took on Washington and the industrial establishment.
The one weakness of this film is that there is no voice of reason, no trusted character who tells Tucker that he shouldn't try to sell dealerships before he makes a single car or that he should allow himself more time to fully develop his car before showing it to the public. Instead we have Tucker smiling nonstop in the face of politicians and his board who are trying to stop him. For as much screen time as he has in the movie, Tucker's character is not as clearly developed as it should or could have been
